ICT Driving New Ways of Working, London 2013

Wednesday 27th November 2013, Hotel Russell, London WC1B 5BE

As time gallops by what was recently considered to be 'new' all too quickly becomes commonplace and is widely accepted as the norm and this is never more true than in the field of ICT. So why, after two highly successful conferences (2011 and 2012) have we decided to continue to use 'New Ways of Working' in the title for the 2013 conference?

The answer is as simple as it is self-evidently true: in order to keep up with the pace of development in the fields of technology, client expectation, government policy and workforce change the UK public sector must continuously strive to develop new, better, more cost effective and different solutions to the challenges that it faces. More and more often these solutions are technology based, with an underlying emphasis on the process, behaviour and culture changes needed to realise the full potential inherent in the technology.

It is also the case that a solution not adopted for very good reasons some time ago may well find that its time has come and although not in the strictest sense 'new' should perhaps be viewed as an apt solution to a new challenge.

As Darwin said "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change"
